Procurement Terms

Contract Award
A legally binding agreement where a government agency selects a vendor to provide goods or services.
SAM.gov
System for Award Management — the primary federal database for contract opportunities and awards.
USASpending
The official US government source for federal spending data, including contracts and grants.
NAICS Code
North American Industry Classification System — a standardized code for classifying business establishments.
RFP
Request for Proposal — an agency solicits bids from vendors for a specific requirement.
Set-Aside
A contract restricted to specific businesses (e.g., small business, veteran-owned, women-owned).
Task Order
A specific order placed against a larger contract vehicle or IDIQ.
IDIQ
Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity — a contract vehicle with no fixed quantity, used for ongoing needs.
Modification
A change to an existing contract — can increase value, extend timeline, or change scope.
Awardee
The company or entity that won the contract.
Contracting Agency
The government department or agency issuing the contract.
Dollar Threshold
The minimum contract value that triggers public reporting requirements.
Primary Match
A contract linked to a DW-traded ticker via direct name matching or EDGAR data.
Secondary Match
A competitor ticker flagged because it has won contracts in the same NAICS code.
